A call here, an email there… as a logistics service provider, you try to offer the best service to your customers daily. However, when your telephone keeps ringing and your employees are continuously working on their mailbox, they have no time left for the logistic activities that form your core business. Therefore, give your customers insights and control in their own activities you fulfill for them. The web portal gives you that possibility. With this module, you can for example give your customer insights into the complaint registration. Or, you can make the customer choose his own time slots in which goods are received or shipped. However, in all the different possibilities of the web portal, lie also its traps. Because to help your customers via the web portal, it is important that they actually use it. Is the platform too slow? Then, your customer will keep calling you with their questions. Use the tips below to optimize the speed of your web portal.

Optimize the web portal

The web portal is the solution to giving your customers control on the specific part of your process, that you do for that customer. When doing so, you can work on other activities, without being disturbed. Therefore, think of the workability of your web portal and how you use it.

1. Filter data on screens.

Via the web portal, your customer has insights into his own data. For example, he can see all shipments. However, ask yourself the question: is it really necessary that your customer can see all shipments from the last five years in one overview? Probably not! Instead, filter the data your customer sees. In that way, you can bring the number of shipments back from the last five years to for example the last month. This has an enormous impact when loading the screen. In the video below, you see how to easily set up these filters yourself.

2. Start date formula

Do you already have active filters via the table filter? But, do you still want to limit the period of the data shown to your customer? Then you can use the ‘Start Date Formula’ to optimize the performance of your web portal. For example, you can use the date formula ‘1M’ to only load the data of the last month.

3. Use sub web views

Third, you can use sub web views. This offers you the possibility to show sub-lists in the overview in the web portal. Don’t you use these subviews? Then, the web portal shows the complete list of data – that matches the earlier set filter of course! Furthermore, you can use web views to deactivate specific parts of the list which are not relevant to your customer. This, you do by setting the line in the column ‘Active’ to ‘No’.

4. Allow filters and sorting

Besides deactivating unnecessary lines, it is probably also not necessary to filter or sort the list based on every field. For example, do you show your customer an overview of all shipments? Then it is handy to filter on document number or sort on posting date. However, there are fields on which are barely filtered. Think for example of weight. To optimize the speed of the web portal, you can deactivate the filter and the sort function on these fields.
